Compliments

It's amazing how one compliment, one kind gesture can change the mood of an entire day. Inspired by Sincerely Kinsey a blog I frequently read and recently discovering my college has a Facebook compliment page, I've decided to go on a Kind Campaign. Scrolling through all the compliments, I was touched by all the displays of kindness. I've always believed that kindness is the best personality in absolutely anyone. It makes me insanely happy, mostly because I'm one of those innocent-always optimistic-kind of people.
Try and compliment at least 3 people everyday and see how much it brightens their day as well as yours. It's completely worth it.

Creativity kick

I only have a couple more days before winter break is over and I head back to the dorms..and I'm excited. I'm ready for an new adventure in college and to meet new people. Yet, I'm on a creativity low right now. This year is the first time I'm trying a 365 day photo challenge and the first couple of weeks I was really into it. I felt inspired by a new year, new blogs and a hobby for photography. Yet this week has been really dragging photography and inspiration wise and I'm not sure why. Ever since I created my first flower crown this month I've been wanting to do more crafts but I can't seem to find those that can be used with materials found around the house. Seems I need something to combat the winter(-ish) blues (I live in California, so you can't really call this weather winter). Pintrest, Google and my camera will be my ally as I gain my creativity back!

Inner nature-ness

Today we went hiking around SB and encountered this wonderful campsite that was filled with trails, a creek, plenty of boulders and trees. Immediately my sister and I ventured off and I fell in love with the campsite. It reminded me of when I would go camping, a long time ago, and I greatly missed it. I vowed to myself that I would go camping soon; I miss the trails, the creek, roasting s'mores and the fun!

Long weekend

For the long weekend, my family headed to Santa Barbra and I saw the most beautiful pre-sunset, sunset and finally twilight on the beach. I love the beachy, carefree vibe that I feel around the UCSB campus and the beach making me wish my college was on the beach as well!
If you ever head to southern California definitely go to Santa Barbra, with it's mountains, beach and great food, it's an amazing mini vacation!

DIY: bracelet re-style

Today I was cleaning out my make-up pouch and came across a beautiful yet forgotten bracelet. I soon realized that the clasp had broken and it was much to small for me. However, instead of throwing or giving the bracelet away, I decided to do a simple DIY that will update the bracelet so it can be worn again and again!

Materials needed;
An old bracelet (mine had a missing clasp)
Piece of ribbon- black or white are the best colors since they are neutral and can pair with any colors the bracelet might be.
Scissors

1. Determine how tight you want the bracelet to fit. I wanted to be able to slip mine on and off, so I adjusted accordingly. Loop the ribbon through the open rings of the bracelet and two knots for where you want the bracelet to stay. The knots should prevent the rings from moving so you have the perfect fit!

2. The first step took some time, so make sure you have the exact fit you need before moving on to the next step. Tie a knot, making sure the two knots that hold the rings in place are still intact. This will tie the bracelet on your wrist.

3. The next step requires you work with one hand, so of you need someone else to help, it may be easier than attempting on your own. Once the bracelet is securely knotted, tie the remaining pieces into a small, neat bow.

4. Cut off excess ribbon.
Enjoy your new re-styled, improved bracelet! :)

Adventure is out there!

One of my newfound goals for 2013 is for everyday to been an adventure, everyday I go out, take a hike, take pictures, go to the beach, go somewhere new and experience new things. One can never branch out and learn new things when they are always in a rut. In addition, I want to document all these new experiences by taking pictures, knowing that my passion for photography will translate into a hobby and I will gain experience in lifestyle photography and nature photography as well.
Wish me luck!
